In these audio messages, Pastor Jim Witteveen addresses the important issues that confront all of us. If you want to learn more about the Christian faith, or if you have specific questions, we will do our best to address the issues here.

1. “No Religion” - Is there really such a thing?

According to the latest census data, the majority of Prince George residents claim that they hold to “No Religion.” In this ten-minute message, Pastor Jim asks the question, “Is there really such a thing as a person who has no religion?” You may be surprised by his answer!

2. What is the Gospel?

Sometimes you hear a word so often that it seems to lose all its meaning. What is the Gospel? Why is it so important? And why is it such good news?

3. Christian Arrogance? Or the Truth of Jesus Christ?

The message of Christianity has been branded as a message of intolerance, exclusivity, and arrogance. In this message, Pastor Jim examines these claims in the light of Jesus’ own words.

4. But… I’m a Good Person!

The results of a recent survey tell us that most people believe that they’ll enjoy eternal life if they lead a “good” life, or if they do enough good things for others during their life. But what does the Bible say?

5. Church: Why Bother?

Every year, fewer and fewer Prince George residents attend church. Drive through town on Sunday mornings and you’ll see two things: the church parking lots are empty, and the mall parking lots are packed. There seem to be many reasons not to attend church, but few reasons to attend church. So why bother going to church? Here are some answers.

6. What To Look For In A Church, Pt. 1: Seeker Sensitivity

If you’ve ever wondered which church you should be a part of, you undoubtedly found out very quickly that there’s a bewildering array of choices out there. So what should you look for in a church? The first thing a church must be is seeker sensitive. In this message, Pastor Jim explains what it really means for a church to be truly “seeker friendly.”

7. What To Look For In A Church, Pt. 2: Powerful Preaching

One of the hallmarks of a faithful church of Jesus Christ is the preaching of God’s Word. In this second message in the series, “What To Look For In A Church,” Pastor Jim explains that powerful, Spirit-filled preaching is of central importance when you’re looking for a church.

8. What To Look For In A Church, Pt. 3: Miracles

The third message in our series on what to look for in a faithful church focuses on the issue of miracles. Pastor Jim explains that one sign of a faithful church is the working of miracles in that church. But they may not be the kind of miracles you’re thinking of!

9. What To Look For In A Church, Pt. 4: The Mighty Working of the Holy Spirit

The fourth thing you need to see in a church to know that it is faithful is the mighty working of God’s Spirit. A faithful church of Jesus Christ will show in its members that the Spirit is working and active in that body of believers. What is that evidence? This message looks to God’s Word to discover the evidence of the Spirit’s work in the life of His people.

10. What To Look For In A Church, Pt. 5: A Scriptural View of Human Nature

If a church is to be faithful to the Scripture it claims to base itself upon, it needs to have a Scriptural view of human nature. What is the truly Biblical view of humanity? Is Scripture positive about human nature? Does the teaching of men like Joel Osteen and Robert Schuller line up with the teachings of the Bible? What should a faithful church teach about human nature?

11. What To Look For In A Church, Pt. 6: A Scriptural View of God

Before the Great Reformation, when many Christians thought of God, and of the Lord Jesus Christ, they thought first and foremost of God’s wrath. Today, the pendulum has swung in the opposite direction, and many Christians avoid speaking of God’s wrath, or thinking about it, at all. In this message, Pastor Jim explains that a faithful church must proclaim a Scriptural view of God, a true view of who God is that doesn’t neglect any of His attributes.

12. Pentecost Sermon: The Fruit of the Spirit

In Galatians 5:22,23, the Apostle Paul writes about the “fruit of the Spirit.” In this message, originally presented as a sermon on Pentecost 2008, we explore the meaning of Pentecost, and the real evidence of the Holy Spirit’s work in the life of His people.

13. Easter Sermon: What Does It Take To Believe?

In Luke 24:13-35, we discover how people reacted to the resurrection of Jesus Christ. What did it take for these people to believe that Jesus rose from the dead? What does it take for us to believe in the resurrection of the Lord today?
